About Beaumont California
Beaumont is located at the top of the San Gorgonio Pass in between Mount San Gorgonio, San Jacinto Mountains, and the San Bernardino Mountains. Beaumont has an elevation of 2,621 feet. Beaumont means “Beautiful Mountain” in French. The area in which present-day Beaumont resides was originally explored in the 1850s as a pass that would connect to the Pacific Ocean from the east was being sought. Beaumont had many names before it was incorporated in 1912. First, it was Edgar Station, then Summit Station then San Gorgonio, and finally Beaumont. In 1927 it only had a population of 857. Back then it was known for its apple industry.
