About Desert Hotsprings California
Desert Hotsprings is a city located in North West Riverside County, California. It is located in the Coachella Valley. As of 2019, Desert Hotsprings has a population of nearly 29,000 people. The name of the city comes from its many naturally occurring hot springs. The area is somewhat rare in that it has both hot and cold mineral springs. It is important to make the distinction between mineral springs and hot springs as mineral springs have no odor. In the 1950s the city became a tourist spot due to its spa and boutique hotels. Desert Hotsprings is controversially known for being the first city in Souther California to legalize the growing of marijuana for medical purposes. Desert Hotsprings was founded by L.W. Coffee in 1941 and in 1963 became incorporated as a city.
